Sewing Retreats

At Railway Rooms, Kingussie

Our sewing retreats, set in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, are a great opportunity to start new projects, learn new skills and meet some amazing crafty people! Held at the boutique hostel, Railway Rooms, in Kingussie these 2 night retreats are a fantastic craft holiday. â€‹

About the Retreats

Each retreat has a theme - whether that's bag making, dressmaking, quilting or even just general sewing. There are set times for workshops plus additional demonstrations and mini workshops.

Most retreats* include materials, haberdashery and patterns - as well as machines, tools & equipment. You will have the opportunity to choose materials before you arrive and for some projects pieces will be cut in advance so you can focus on sewing. You also have the option to bring your own machine.

You will be staying at Kingussie's renovated station building, Railway Rooms - a comfortable boutique hostel with en-suite rooms, a full self catering kitchen & mini galley kitchens and a large social room where we will host our workshops and meals. There is even an outdoor seating area and fire pit to enjoy the Cairngorm evenings. Each participant will receive their own room, choice of double or twin. There is an accessible room and a number of first floors rooms available.

Each retreat includes a first night evening meal - provided by amazing local chef Aggie of Heavy Metal Munchies. A continental breakfast and lunches for days 2 & 3 are provided. There is a selection of tea, coffee and home baking available throughout the retreat.

Additions
  • Extra Guests - If you would like to bring a friend or family member to the retreat you can do this for an additional charge of £150 which includes accommodation & meals. They will not be able to participate in workshops

  • Extra Night - It may be possible to book an extra nights stay at the end of the retreat - however the venue must be booked as a whole (single rooms cannot be reserved). Please let us know if you are interested in an extra night & we can divide the cost between the number of participants interested.

*Our Sewing Time Retreats are designed so you can bring your own project to work on so we do not provide materials etc. There are opportunities to buy materials, haberdashery & patterns at discounted prices.
