Pocket hug

In Your Kit

  • 2x Felt Heart Shapes

  • Cotton Square

  • Bondaweb Square

  • Thread & Needle

Instructions

This project can be sewn by hand or by machine

Step 1- Affix Bondaweb

  •  Draw a shape on to the paper side of the bondaweb, trim it & iron it on to the wrong side of the fabric (with the webbing side down)

  • OR select some motifs from the fabric piece, cut them out, leaving a border. Attach the bondaweb to the wrong side of the fabric then trim to desired size (see the photo)

Step 2 - Add decorative stitching

  • Use embroidery stitching to decorate your pocket hug (running stitch is shown in the video) â€‹

  • Use machine stitching, such as a zig zag stitch around the edge of the fabric (shown in photo). You may want to put a piece of paper under the felt to stop it catching in the machine. This can easily be torn off afterwards

Step 3 - Sew the Pocket Hug

  • If sewing by machine, put the pieces right side together & sew round the heart, leaving a gap for turning. Turn through the hole & add stuffing. Sew the hole closed with an invisible mattress stitch (shown in video)

  • If sewing by hand, put the pieces wrong side together & sew using a blanket stitch (shown in video). Leave a gap and add stuffing. Continue with the blanket stitch to close the hole

Enjoy your finished project!
