Evening socials featuring craft demos, ideal for Christmas gifts & decorations

Join us this Winter for evening social sessions! Each session will include an hour-long demo - showing how to complete that evening's craft. You can experiment with samples or purchase a kit to complete on the night or take home. All crafts - and the kits themselves - would make ideal gifts for family, friends and fellow craft enthusiasts. We will of course have our usual home baking refreshments, tea & coffee and plenty of time to chat!! Sessions include: Tuesday 25th Nov - Brioche Knitting Learn how to knit the brioche stitch - a chunky cozy reversible stitch. We will introduce the Cabin Slippers pattern from Ysolda Teague & the pattern steps. We will demonstrate the brioche technique in the round & how to increase Kit includes: Cabin Slippers Pattern & 5 balls of Drops Alaska* Kit Cost: £12 PLEASE NOTE: Cabin Slipper Kits must be ordered in advance either when booking or at the event. If ordering when booking please select yarn colour Tuesday 9th Dec - Free Motion Ornaments Experiment with free motion embroidery - a method of 'drawing' with the sewing machine. We will demonstrate how to make two different ornaments - a bauble & a christmas tree Kit includes: Wadding, Felt, Bondaweb & scraps of Christmas Fabric Kits Cost: £7 Tuesday 16th Dec - Stitch Markers Learn some simple jewellery & beading techniques to make stitch markers - ideal for both crocheters and knitters. Have a go at making one of each kind of marker during the session or buy the kit to make a full set Kit Includes: Beads, Findings & Clasps (enough to make 6 markers) Kit Cost: £6








Cancellation Policy
Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online - All courses & workshops include £5 non-refundable admin fee. - Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a refund, minus £5 non-refundable admin fee. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. MYO Workshops: - £10 deposit is non-refundable, this covers admin fees & workshop planning - Workshops not held at Learn & Create (Newtonmore) must be held at community venues e.g. village or church halls, not your own home - Venues will need to have their own public liability insurance, provide electricity outlets, chairs & tables. - Booking & payment of a community venue is the responsibility of the individual/group (if not using Learn & Create in Newtonmore). - Individual/Group must inform the venue if the chosen workshop will include sewing equipment. All Learn & Create equipment is PAT tested & we can provide details of our insurance if necessary. - Remaining payments are due 3 weeks before your workshop date & are non-refundable from this point Machine Hire & Project Help Sessions - Upon requesting a session we will be in touch and let you know of available dates - please give as many details as you can (e.g. evenings or day time, weekdays or weekends) - By booking a machine hire session you are confirming that you have basic knowledge of using the machine and if there is any feature, equipment or tool you are unfamiliar with you will ask our staffs for help. - Minor breakages such as broken/bent needles, pins, quilting clips will not incur any compensation. - Breakages to sewing machines, irons and equipment which result in repair or replacement will incur either full or part compensation Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
