This course covers absolutely everything you need to know to make your own quilt. We will use the Ultimate Beginners Quilt - a free pattern from The Fat Quarter Shop. It contains 9 quilt blocks, each which shows a different patchwork technique including basic patchwork, half square triangles & quarter square triangles plus how to quilt and bind your quilt. What's Included: - 21hrs total teaching time - 1hr session on materials, cutting and planning out your quilt - Five 4hr sessions sewing the blocks and completing the quilt - Wadding material The final class (where we aim to quilt & bind our quilts) will be held at Newtonmore Community Hall to give us more space (TBC) COURSE DATES - Given the length of sessions we will aim to be as flexible as we can with sessions. Proposed dates are 15th Feb - 15th March but there is scope to move sessions if the majority require this. The Materials session will be an evening session on 29th January, 6.30-7.30pm You Will Need: 12 fat quarters - We recommend buying a fat quarter pack (as this will ensure all the materials correspond) or choosing solid colours. 1m plain cotton fabric (for the fabric between the blocks) 1m plain cotton fabric (for the fabric around the edge) Please Note: We will discuss required fabrics in more details in the first session Skill Level: This course is ideal for beginners Basic knowledge of sewing machines, e.g. ability to thread machine & sew straight seams is required (or completion of our Intro to Sewing Machines workshop) Requires minimum 4 people
Cancellation Policy
Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online - All courses & workshops include £5 non-refundable admin fee. - Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a refund, minus £5 non-refundable admin fee. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. MYO Workshops: - £10 deposit is non-refundable, this covers admin fees & workshop planning - Workshops not held at Learn & Create (Newtonmore) must be held at community venues e.g. village or church halls, not your own home - Venues will need to have their own public liability insurance, provide electricity outlets, chairs & tables. - Booking & payment of a community venue is the responsibility of the individual/group (if not using Learn & Create in Newtonmore). - Individual/Group must inform the venue if the chosen workshop will include sewing equipment. All Learn & Create equipment is PAT tested & we can provide details of our insurance if necessary. - Remaining payments are due 3 weeks before your workshop date & are non-refundable from this point Machine Hire & Project Help Sessions - Upon requesting a session we will be in touch and let you know of available dates - please give as many details as you can (e.g. evenings or day time, weekdays or weekends) - By booking a machine hire session you are confirming that you have basic knowledge of using the machine and if there is any feature, equipment or tool you are unfamiliar with you will ask our staffs for help. - Minor breakages such as broken/bent needles, pins, quilting clips will not incur any compensation. - Breakages to sewing machines, irons and equipment which result in repair or replacement will incur either full or part compensation Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
