Sewing is not just an enjoyable craft skill, it can help us to be more resourceful - encouraging repairing, reusing and upcycling. We highly recommend this workshop to anyone who: - Has a sewing machine but isn't sure how to use it - Learnt to sew as a child but wants a refresher - Fancies one of our other sewing courses & want to build confidence We will learn: - How to set up the sewing machines, covering how to wind a bobbin and thread - Select and adjust stitches - How to sew straight seams. We will also cover cutting fabric, using pins, rotary cutters, interfacing and pressing fabric. We will create a set of sewing accessories including a pin/clip cushion, scissor holder & thread catcher (mini basket) Included: Fabric - 2 Fat Quarters are included, you can select these at your first session Sewing machines and equipment Haberdashery including pin cushion filling, interfacing and fusible fleece


Cancellation Policy

Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online - All courses & workshops include £5 non-refundable admin fee. - Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a refund, minus £5 non-refundable admin fee. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. MYO Workshops: - £10 deposit is non-refundable, this covers admin fees & workshop planning - Workshops not held at Learn & Create (Newtonmore) must be held at community venues e.g. village or church halls, not your own home - Venues will need to have their own public liability insurance, provide electricity outlets, chairs & tables. - Booking & payment of a community venue is the responsibility of the individual/group (if not using Learn & Create in Newtonmore). - Individual/Group must inform the venue if the chosen workshop will include sewing equipment. All Learn & Create equipment is PAT tested & we can provide details of our insurance if necessary. - Remaining payments are due 3 weeks before your workshop date & are non-refundable from this point Machine Hire & Project Help Sessions - Upon requesting a session we will be in touch and let you know of available dates - please give as many details as you can (e.g. evenings or day time, weekdays or weekends) - By booking a machine hire session you are confirming that you have basic knowledge of using the machine and if there is any feature, equipment or tool you are unfamiliar with you will ask our staffs for help.  - Minor breakages such as broken/bent needles, pins, quilting clips will not incur any compensation. - Breakages to sewing machines, irons and equipment which result in repair or replacement will incur either full or part compensation Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
