Would you like to learn more dressmaking skills? This course is ideal for home sewers who want to gain more skills using stretch fabric We will use a collection of patterns from Patterns 4 Priates and Waves & Wild to create a mini wardrobe. We will be making: - Wonder Undies or Superhero Boxers - 24/7 Tank Top - Salt Air Cardigan* *Available in male & female fit styles These three patterns will demonstrate: - Using jersey and sweatshirt fabrics - Using stretch machine stitches & overlockers - Using ribbing - Adding buttonholes to stretch fabrics There are 6 sessions in total: Fabric & Fittings: This session will be focused on learning how to take your measurements and find your size in each of the patterns we will be using. We will also look at the different types of fabrics you can use & discuss amounts needed. This session usually takes about an hour & is held two weeks before the sewing session so you have time to buy your fabrics Sewing Sessions: In these sessions we will cut & sew our garments. We will set a rough schedule but it is flexible and we will adapt to your speed & comfort. Students are welcome to do some sewing or cutting at home if they wish to. Sewing sessions are 2.5hrs long Patterns A paper copy of the 24/7 Tank pattern will be provided - you can either cut out your size or use tracing paper We have permission to print & use Waves & Wild patterns for workshops & classes. If students wish to take these home they must first purchase the PDF files from the Waves & Wild website & show the confirmation email in class. Materials to Bring (More details provided after booking): - Wonder Undies or Superhero Boxers: 50cm jersey stretch fabric plus tubular ribbing or extra fabric for waist bands - 24/7 Tank Top: between 1-2m jersey stretch fabric plus 0.5m tubular ribbing - Salt Air Cardigan: between 2-2.5m french terry or sweatshirt fabric What's Included - All sewing machines & equipment - All haberdashery - Scissors, tape measure, stitch markers etc


Cancellation Policy

Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online - All courses & workshops include £5 non-refundable admin fee. - Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a refund, minus £5 non-refundable admin fee. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. MYO Workshops: - £10 deposit is non-refundable, this covers admin fees & workshop planning - Workshops not held at Learn & Create (Newtonmore) must be held at community venues e.g. village or church halls, not your own home - Venues will need to have their own public liability insurance, provide electricity outlets, chairs & tables. - Booking & payment of a community venue is the responsibility of the individual/group (if not using Learn & Create in Newtonmore). - Individual/Group must inform the venue if the chosen workshop will include sewing equipment. All Learn & Create equipment is PAT tested & we can provide details of our insurance if necessary. - Remaining payments are due 3 weeks before your workshop date & are non-refundable from this point Machine Hire & Project Help Sessions - Upon requesting a session we will be in touch and let you know of available dates - please give as many details as you can (e.g. evenings or day time, weekdays or weekends) - By booking a machine hire session you are confirming that you have basic knowledge of using the machine and if there is any feature, equipment or tool you are unfamiliar with you will ask our staffs for help.  - Minor breakages such as broken/bent needles, pins, quilting clips will not incur any compensation. - Breakages to sewing machines, irons and equipment which result in repair or replacement will incur either full or part compensation Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
