Service Description
There are many advantages to knitting a sweater in the round - there are no seams to sew, you can try on the sweater to test fit & you can easily incorporate colour work. The Flax sweater from Tin Can Knits is hugely popular - it's unisex, available from baby to adult sizes, has a lovely sleeve feature and can be made in different yarn weights. We will be making the 0-6 month size in this workshop - so that we can attempt to complete the full jumper. Do not worry if you are not a fast knitter - our aim will be for everyone to complete the yoke section, divide for the sleeves, work at least some of the body & one sleeve. We can always put sections on hold for you to come back to later. To accomodate winter hours & working hours we are offering this workshop as a 5hr Saturday session or two 2.5hr weekday afternoon sessions. You will need some experience with knitting - knit, purl, increasing & decreasing stitches - but no experience with circular knitting is needed. There are two weight options, the Flax (aran yarn) or the Flax Light (4ply/sock yarn) You will Need: FLAX - 4mm & 5mm circular needles* - 270 yards (247m) Aran Yarn FLAX LIGHT - 2.75mm & 3.75mm circular needles* - 350 yard (320m) 4ply/sock Yarn *we recommend testing your gauge before the workshop, these are given below for 10cm in stockinette on larger needles Flax Gauge: 18 stitches and 22 rows Flax Light Gauge: 24 stitches and 32 rows
