Service Description
To help with the increasing costs of living we are setting all our courses to take a deposit online, then will invoice for the remaining cost. The remainder must be paid by week 2 of the course. We will be learn to knit socks using two patterns which use different construction and heel techniques. You will have the choice to work using double pointed needles or learning the magic loop technique using circular needles This course is designed for next stage knitters - basic knowledge of knit, purl, increasing & decreasing is needed. Rye (TinCanKnits) - Tin Can Knits patterns are really clear and available in a range of baby, kids & adult sizes. Rye is a simple cuff down socks which features a basic heel flap and a decorative garter stitch pattern. This pattern uses DK or Aran yarn so it knits up fast & you can choose knit your socks in one colour or use a different colour for the heels, cuffs & toes Jager (Tanis Fibre Arts) - This is a brand new adult sock pattern from a colourful knitwear designer. The socks are knitted toe up so you can choose your length as well as choosing different amounts of colour work. The heel is a short row heel & we will be using 4ply yarn. Each week we will learn & work on different element of the sock: Week 1: Cast on Rye Sock, work cuff & leg Week 2 & 3: Work on Rye leg & heel Week 4: Work on Rye foot & toe Week 5: Cast on Jager Sock, work toe & foot Week 6 & 7: Work on Jager foot & heel Week 8: Work on Jager leg & cuff We will complete one sock from of each pattern & students may need to work on their socks in-between sessions to reach different parts of the pattern. What You Need You will need yarn & double pointed or circular needles for each sock. We recommend doing a gauge swatch before the course to ensure you have the correct needle sizes. Below are the suggested yarns & needles, specific amounts can be seen in patterns Rye: - Aran or DK Yarn in one or two colours (Example uses two balls of West Yorkshire Spinners Colour Lab DK) - Recommended needles are 3.25mm & 3.75mm (or size to get gauge 22sts x 30 rows per 10cm/4") Jager - 4ply Yarn in a mixture of colours (Example uses two skeins Fyberspates CoopKnits Socks Yeah! plus leftovers for colour work) - Recommended needles are 2.25mm needles (or size to get gauge 32sts x 46 row per 10cm/4")
Cancellation Policy
Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online. Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Festive Friends Discount - Eligible only on Winter 2023 Festive Workshops - Participants must book together (select 2 participants when booking) Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a full refund. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
