Service Description

To begin 2023 we are offering a range of courses to help you Learn a New Skill - aiming to help new crafters learn the basics and complete some simple projects Knitting & Crochet are fantastic skills to learn - they're a great craft to boost creativity, it helps keep the brain active and completing a project gives you a wonderful sense of accomplishment. KNITTING We will start by learning the basics - casting on, the knit stitch and casting off. We will complete a simple pair of wrist warmers - giving the opportunity to use multiple colours as well We will then learn the purl stitch and mix knits and purls, plus basic decreasing to create a simple rib hat. Using these skills we will then explore Mitred Corner projects - a simple knitting technique to create squares. Once you have learnt the technique you can choose to create a blanket, cushion cover or dishcloths This is a six week course and includes two pairs of knitting needles. We will spend 2 weeks on each of the three projects so you may be required to do some extra knitting in between sessions. You will need to bring: Aran weight yarn (one or more colours for each project) We do not recommend cotton yarn for new knitters - the threads can often split which can cause confusion with stitches. CROCHET We will start by learning the basics – making a slip knot, working a chain, and the treble crochet stitch. We will complete a simple pair of wrist warmers - giving the opportunity to use multiple colours as well. We will then learn to crochet in the round, and basic increasing will be introduced to create a top-down beanie hat. Using these skills, we will then explore other crochet stitches for adding different textures your projects. You will then have the opportunity to create a blanket, cushion cover or tea cosy. This is a six week course and includes two crochet hooks in different sizes. We will spend 2 weeks on each of the three projects so you may be required to do some extra crochet in between sessions. You will need to bring: Aran weight yarn (one or more colours for each project) We do not recommend cotton yarn for beginners to crochet - the threads can often split which can cause confusion with stitches.


Cancellation Policy

Booking - Payments must be received in full or in part when booking online. Any remaining payment must be paid by bank transfer before the course/workshop start date. Festive Friends Discount - Eligible only on Winter 2023 Festive Workshops - Participants must book together (select 2 participants when booking) Cancellations These must be received at least two weeks before the workshop starts to receive a full refund. Payment cannot be refunded if places are cancelled later that this date. Young Creatives & After School Clubs ​​If you cancel your place 14 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your place 7 days prior to the programme start date (e.g. by the first date of the block) you will receive a 60% refund as by this time we are likely to have purchased materials. We will not be able to refund cancellations received later than 7 days prior to the programme start date.
